Oxalis paramoensis Botanical Dissection plate
In the Fall of 2023 I had the incredible opportunity to intern with longtime staff botanical illustrator Alice Tangerini at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. My completed drawing supports a research manuscript by botanists Daniela S. Canelón, Laurence J. Dorr, and Santos M. Niño, illustrating a newly described species of Oxalis they encountered in Venezuela.
These species, Oxalis paramoensis and Oxalis amicorum, are illustrated by myself and my internship host Alice, respectively. It is an honor to learn this traditional stye of illustration and to create this work in the service of science.
